A personal project where I made a series of song posters inspired by songs I've been loving lately. I set rules for myself; the information that every poster needed to include was: song title, name of the band, name of the album, and lyrics from the song.

The purpose of this project was to expand my design skills, further explore my style of mixed media design, and see how it can be implemented into the music industry. Most elements used in these posters were done either in photoshop, clip studio paint, or by hand. Each title is a link to the song so check it out while viewing the poster!

This was the first poster that I did for the project and as a result the overall design is more minimalistic than the rest. The design was centered around the handwritten "Sugarcube" and literal sugar cubes. The script font contrasts with the bulkier typefaces and add elegance. I covered the whole design with white noise to look like sprinkled sugar and push this '"sweet like candy" look inspired by the songs name, lyricism and sound.

In retrospect I think the 2nd poster is where I found really a style. I began incorporating my own photography and experimenting with typography effects. I also began adding details into the designs like the lyrics in the pictures and the flourishes around the text. Dirty/messy textures and typography was the theme here to match the distorted Dinosaur Jr sound.

The 3rd poster was the most complicated and maximalist in design. The text effects on "I Used" and the song title took lots of experimentation  in Clip Studio Paint while others like on the phone line and speech bubble took some work in photoshop. I used a lot of natural elements (like the big smile drawn in crayon and the smaller clay corner smiles) after being inspired by arts & crafts. The colorful design looks as playful as the song sounds.

the last poster turned out to be the most maximalist in design with every technique I used in previous posters turned up to 11. Distorted typography, edited photos and mix of real handmade elements with digital elements are all being used here. The idea here was a twisted cooking recipe collaged together by ephemera relating to the band or cooking (like literal pots and pans). It's esoteric in a way but so is the music of Horsegirl.
